Damn, they did a good job! Without studying the photo for a sec, it's a great replica. I guess the question then becomes.......why?
The real VR1000
Real crappy photoshop....but I like it! I would definitely drive one....
Really, we're faced with a pretty bleak outlook for nice modern bikes with modern technology that are done in vintage style...the Ducati Sport Classic is a decent option, but based on the sentiments of the main Ducati forum, owners of the Sport Classic feel that besides the awesome 2-valve air cooled DS engine, the other componentry that comes with the bike is really cheap. Also, it has had problems with reliability, e.g. a spreading fuel tank, mapping issues, etc. Their basic point is that the Sport Classic is overpriced, it's more expensive than part of the Monster line and is made much more cheaply.
I think really the best way to go for Modern Vintage is Triumph...the Thruxton especially. I love it, but it just doesn't have the sexiness of a Sport Classic. Also, they need to offer a vintage fairing for it. The reliability of the Triumph over the Ducati is a huge plus as well.
