Slow Food
Save the date for a Slow Food M.V. potluck dinner next Thursday, Nov. 18, from 6 to 9 pm. Bring a potluck dish to share, your own place setting, and drinks. While enjoying dinner, hear from Kaila Binney and Emily Palmer, Slow Food members who attended Terra Madre in Italy last month, a global gathering of sustainable food communities, farmers, and activities from around the world. Nature calls
Looking for something for children to do on Veterans Day? Sassafras Earth Education in Aquinnah hosts a Boys and Girls Day Program from 9 am to 3 pm. The girls will spend the day with Saskia Vanderhoop, and boys with David Vanderhoop. Dress for the outdoors, bring a lunch, water bottle, and a daypack. Call to pre-register: 508-645-2008. Food Pantry fundraiser
As a benefit for the Island Food Pantry, get your knives sharpened in time for the holidays at LeRoux at Home in Vineyard Haven. The Wusthoff Knife Sharpening is from 11 am to 2 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 17. The first knife is free; three more are $2 each (no serrated knives). Community poetry
